Effect of Heat Treatment on the Microstructure and Properties of CW713R Special Brass

Abstract
Microstructure characteristics,mechanical properties and wear resistance property of CW713R special brass in different heat treatment were investigated using metallurgical metalloscope(OM),universal testing machines and vickers hardness tester and grain-abrasion wear tester.The results indicate that while annealing temperature increasing from 200 ℃ to 300 ℃,acicular α phase precipitated,β phase matrix unchanged basically;and annealing temperature increased from 300 ℃ to 450 ℃,α phase grew short rod-like or equiaxed,β phase matrix appeared coarse.When annealing temperature rose from 450 ℃ to 550 ℃,α phase disappeared and turned into β phase,β phase matrix became coarse observably.Amount of α and β phase,also its shape are bound to lead to the mechanical property change.Comparing the mechanical property target under different heat treatment,extrusion billet,which was drawn slightly then treated by 300 ℃×3 h,can attained the optimum mechanical properties.关键词
