Abstract

In order to prepare cellulose high-strength fiber, cellulose liquid crystal solution was prepared by using cellu-lose, mesogenic unit (CbP)and ionic liquid as spinning solution, and high strength fiber was spun. In this paper, liquid crystalline properties of cellulose liquid crystal solution and the surface morphology and mechani-cal properties of cellulose fibers are studied. The results show that : the purity of CbP is more than 98% and structure is consistent with the expectation; there is no chemical interaction between the cellulose and CbP, which is a combination of physical force or hydrogen-bonding force and the formed liquid crystal is of a smectic phase. The cellulose fibers added with CbP are finer than pure cellulose fibers, and its mechanical strength is 3.00 cN/dtex, which is 34%higher than that of pure cellulose fibers.
