Abstract

In order to solve the problems existed in coastal saline-alkali lands,such as vulnerable ecological environments,high cost of eco-restoration by conventional methods,and low survival rate of planting vegetation,several methods for eco-restoration were compared and evaluated,such as improving the original soil,cultivating and tendering native saline-alkali tolerant plants.The results showed that the indices of saline-alkali soil in the depth between 0-60 cm were significantly improved and the total salt content decreased by 0.088% by the application of the integrated methods,such as land leveling,deep ploughing,organic fertilizer adding,upturned soil sunning,intertillage ventilation and shallow plough.After planting different plant species in the improved soil with the same maintenance methods,it was found that the total salt contents decreased by 0.33%,0.204%,and 0.36%,respectively by planting Tamarix chinensis,Suaeda heteroptera,and two species mixed.In T.chinensis planting area,the total salt content in non-maintenance area increased by 0.031 %,however,in routine and optimized maintenance area,the total salt content decreased by 0.33% and 0.47%,respectively.These results showed that the soil improvement,plants selection,planting levels and maintenance methods had useful effects on the original soil eco-restoration in coastal saline-alkali land,which could be proposed for local application.
