Abstract

Considering that the copper and nickel sulphide minerals can be oxidized easily, pyrrhotite was chosen as the research subject. The effect of mixing intensity on the surface components of pyrrhotite was investigated through flotation experiments and X-ray photoelectronic spectroscopy. The results show that the floatability of pyrrhotite which is oxidized is not good. High intensity conditioning can increase pyrrhotite flotation recovery significantly and the pyrrhotite flotation recovery is positive correlation with fluid field strength. The main oxidation products on the surface of pyrrhotite are iron oxides, such as Fe2O3and Fe2(SO4)3. High intensity conditioning can clean the oxidation film on the surface of pyrrhotite, and the iron sulfate can be easily cleared.
