A MILP Model for Grid-Connection Transmission System Planning of Wind Farm Clusters

Abstract
The grid-connection system of wind farm clusters is the primary part of wind power consumption with large-scale centralized development.Based on the modeling on the cost items of these transmission projects, a mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model for grid-connection system planning of wind farm clusters was proposed with the objective of optimum overall economy by using disjunctive inequalities, raster map, and piece-wise linearization.The proposed model took annual output characteristics of wind farms and operational constraints into consideration.A globally optimal planning scheme can be obtained with the model, to make decisions on wind farm clustering, capacity allocation of these projects, locations of step-up stations, and grid-connection points of wind farms.For practicality, a further optimization of step-up station sites was proposed to improve the accuracy of the model and shorten the computing time simultaneously.Numerical result shows the effectiveness of the proposed model and method.关键词
