Abstract
The interaction between the proton exchange membrane and a solution containing manganese ions and hydrogen peroxide was investigated using thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and infrared spectroscopy.The effects of manganese ion concentration,hydrogen peroxide concentration,and dipping time on membrane stability were investigated by TGA.It revealed that the pyrolysis peak temperature related to sulfonic acid groups nearly disappeared following corrosion.Another pyrolysis peak temperature appeared at high temperatures after corrosion.The corroded films were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy,dynamic thermo-mechanical analysis,impedance electrical conductivity measurements,and thermal lifetime measurements.Isothermal mass loss at 200 ℃ in air indicated that the IR vibration peaks were unchanged compared to those of an unaltered membrane,but the intensity of the CF2 stretching vibration peak decreased 67.7% at 1 210 cm-1 when heated to 315 ℃.The membrane conversion rate for isothermal mass loss in air was far larger than that of non-isothermal mass loss in a nitrogen atmosphere.关键词
