Effects of Flavonoids from Allium mongolicum Regel on Antioxidant Capacity of Meat Sheep
摘要
Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation of flavonoids from Allium mongolicum Regel on total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC),the activities of total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD),catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX),and malondialdehyde (MDA) content of meat sheep to determine the optimal level.Sixty 6-month-old meat sheep with similar body weight [(39.9±3.2) kg] were randomly assigned to 4 groups with 15 sheep per group.Control group was fed a basal diet, and the 3 experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 11,22 and 33 mg/kg flavonoids from Allium mongolicum Regel, respectively.Preliminary feeding period was 15 d,and the experimental period was 60 d.Blood was collected at days 0,15,30,45,60 via jugular venipuncture, and serum was harvested.Three sheep were randomly selected from each of the four groups for slaughter after experiment, and sampies of liver and spleen were collected to determine the antioxidant indices. The results showed as follows:1)dietary supplementation of 11 to 33 mg/kg flavoniods from Allium mongolicum Regel significantly increased TAOC in serum (from day 45) and liver (P<0.05),but had no significant effect on that in spleen (P>0.05).2)Dietary supplementation of 11 to 33 mg/kg flavoniods from Allium mongolicum Regel had positive effect on the activities of T-SOD in serum, liver and spleen,CAT in serum, and GSH-PX in serum and spleen;the supplemental level of 33 mg/kg showed the highest effects, and the effects became obvious after day 30 in serum;however,it had no significant effects on CAT in liver and spleen, and GSH-PX in liver (P>0.05).3) Dietary supplementation of 11 to 33 mg/kg flavoniods from Allium mongolicum Regel could decrease the content of MDA in serum and liver, and the effects became obvious after day 15 in serum, however,it had no significant effects on the content of MDA in spleen (P>0.05).The results indicate that dietary supplementation of 11 to 33 mg/kg flavoniods from Allium mongolicum Regel can significantly improve antioxidant capacity of meat sheep, and the antioxidant capacity is in time-dependent and dose-dependent manners.Flavoniods from Atlium mongolicum Regel begin to play its role after fed for 30 d.关键词
