Abstract

Molecular markers, INDEL1 and INDEL2, which are linked to salt tolerance gene SST of rice seedling, were designed. The specificity and reliability of 5 markers, including ID27093, ID27101, ID27118, INDEL1, and INDEL2, were analyzed through screening 67 rice varieties and a F2 population from a cross between mutant sst and a rice restorer line Huazhan for salt tolerance, and mutant sst was used as a salt tolerance control. The results showed that all markers except INDEL2 demonstrated low polymor-phism. INDEL2 turned out to be a co-dominant marker with high specificity, and it was able to distinguish from 85.07% of the tested parents and mutant sst with high screening accuracy. Therefore, marker INDEL2 could be directly used as a molecular marker in breeding for rice seedling salt tolerance gene SST.
