Abstract

A series of red-emitting phosphors of NaLaMgTeO6:Eu3+ were prepared via the conventional solid-state reaction. The structure and morphology were investigated by X-ray diffraction and field emission scanning electron microscopy. The excitation and emission spectra were measured at 298?473K, and the critical distance for energy transfer, thermal activation energy and CIE chromaticity coordinate were determined. The results indicate that, the phosphors emit an intense red light under the excitation at 397nm or 466nm, corresponding to the5D0→ 7F2 transition of Eu3+. The optimal Eu3+ amount is 40% (in mole fraction), and the concentration quenching is ascribed to the dipole?dipole interaction. Moreover, the photoluminescence exhibits a favorable thermal stability and a high efficiency. In conclusion, NaLaMgTeO6:Eu3+phosphor is a promising material for LED applications.
