摘要

Abstract

This paper is motivated by the need for investigating the effect of Ce on the miscrostructure and the mechanical property of Al-Si alloy by observing the microstructure of alloy using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope;and by testing the micro hardness under normal temperature and impact performance.The results demonstrate that the addition of Ce into finer Al-5Ti gives the miscrostructure of α-Al a transition from dendritic to block,ball,allowing eutectic Si to change from needle into granular and short rod,with a resultant smaller grain size and significantly improved impact performance;and the presence of Ce mass fraction of 0.6% is associated with significantly improved properties of Al-Si alloy,resulting in a more homogeneous structure;a higher metal hardness(479.51 MPa);the largest alloy impact toughness,up to 28.95 J/cm2,53.5% higher than before the addition;and an occurrence of a smaller amount of toughening in alloy fracture,an indication of a mixed fracture.
