The Impact of Informal Employment on Residents' Subjective Well-being—Experience Analysis of Chinese General Social Survey (CGSS)

摘要

Abstract

Using the CGSS (2013)and setting"Happiness" as the indicator,this paper systematically studies the impact of informal employment on the residents' subjective well-being.It is found that informal employment is the important factor influencing the residents' subjective well-being;if residents are engaged in informal employment,their subjective well-being will be significantly reduced;informal employment job market has more serious gender discrimination which significantly reduces women's subjective well-being;in the nationwide regions,the rising rate of inflation reduces the residents' subjective well-being significantly.In addition,the variable of education has an positive impact on women and the midwest residents' subjective well-being,which shows that the increase of education years of women and the midwest residents is one of the important ways to improve their subjective well-being.Therefore,the government should work hard to eliminate institutional obstacles and employment discrimination,to promote the labor market normalization,and to make the labor engaging in informal employment get regular jobs.
