Abstract

In view of the current situation of coal and gas outburst disaster in the coal roadway, the characteristics of the natural stress field in the outburst mine were analyzed, FLAC3D was utilized to calculate and analyze the distribution characteristics of stresses and failure zones in the front of the heading face under various conditions, a risk evaluation model of coal and gas outburst in the front of the heading face was established, and the main controlling factors and influencing mechanism of coal and gas outburst in the front of the heading face were investigated. The results have shown that the maximum horizontal stress is comparatively higher in the shallow part of the outburst mine in China, which gradually crosses over to a quasi-static water pressure field with the increase of depth; there are obvious zoned phenomenon of stresses and permeability in front of the heading face with the orientation of maximum principal stress determining the developmental characteristics of stress-relaxation zone and plastic deformation zone: when the three stresses are unequal in three directions, the risk of coal and gas outburst will grow accordingly in the coal roadway; in the stress-relaxation zone and plastic deformation zone, an approximately linear relationship exists between the stresses perpendicular to coal roadway ax-is and the horizontal distance to the front coal wall of the heading face; the mine-induced stresses show obvious abnormity while the heading face crosses the soft-hard coal variation zone: coal and gas out-burst disasters occur easily when the coal roadway transits from hard coal area to the soft coal zone; the risk of coal and gas outburst increases as the size of roadway enlarges, the horizontal stress along the direction of roadway axis increases, the gas pressure gradient rises, the length of stress-relaxation zone shortens, and the strength of coal gets lowered; the stresses perpendicular to coal roadway axis affect the coal and gas outburst hazard through controlling shear stress, damage degree and intensity of coal, per-meability and gas pressure gradient of coal.
