Pig farmers' willingness to adopt the ecological breeding mode and the inlfuencing factors

Abstract
Exploring the influencing factors of pig farmers' willingness to adopt the ecological breeding mode is critical to the promotion of ecological breeding mode and the sustainable development of pig industry. Based on the survey data collected from pig farmers in Hunan, Hubei, Henan and Tianjin, and applying the Ordinal Logistic model, this paper analyzed pig farmers' willingness to adopt the ecological breeding mode and its inlfuencing factors. Results show that, 37.6% of sampled pig farmers are willing to adopt the ecological breeding mode, which illustrates the overall level of willingness of adoption needs to be improved. Among the inlfuencing factors, female pig farmers are more willing to adopt the ecological breeding mode. While variables such as the level of education, household size, cognition of environmental pollution, understanding of ecological breeding mode, the knowledge of harmless manure treatment policy, as well as the satisfaction to pig-breeding subsidy policy have significant positive impacts on pig farmers' willingness to adopt the ecological breeding mode. Therefore, it is necessary to perfect education and training service system for pig farmers, to enhance farmers' cognition of ecological breeding mode and to strengthen governmental support measures on technology and ifnance.关键词
