摘要

Abstract

[Objective]Forest light environment is an important factor affecting forest tree growth and complete the normal renewal process.In order to explore the illumination change influence on birch seedlings,in this study two kinds of forest light environments,open and understory,were selected.[Methods]The birch seedlings height,diameter ratio,specific leaf area,leaf area ratio,biomass and biomass allocation were measured,in order to investigate light adaptability of birch seedlings in the physiological and ecological characteristics,which would provide the basis for birch forest renewal,recovery and maintenance.[Results]The results showed that:under the open environment the leaf area ratio and leaf weight ratio of birch seedling was lower,but the plant height,stem diameter,root biomass,stem biomass,leaf biomass and total biomass increased significantly.After two growing seasons,root and total biomass ratio of birch seedling in shading environment decreased,stem and total biomass ratio,the aboveground and underground biomass ratio increased.No significant changes of birch seedlings in open environment occurred.[Conclusion]The birch seedlings had strong morphological plasticity and biomass allocation plasticity,and could adapt well to different forest light condition,coupled with the similar Quercus wutaishansea Mary light adaptation characteristics,the birch could be used forest reforestation work in the North China mountain.
