Effect of Electric Acupuncture on the Behavior of Vascular Dementia Rats and Activity of cAMP-PKA-CREB in Hippocampus

Abstract
Objective:To research the possible mechanism of electric acupuncture on frontal area of vascular dementia (VD) rats and to study the effect on cAMP-PKA-CREB signal pathways in hippocampus.Methods:60 male aging Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group,a model group,an electric acupuncture group and a medicine group.In the experiment,we adopted 2-VO to duplicate VD models and used electric acupuncture treatment on the frontal area of rats' heads for 30 days according to professor YU Zhi-shun's treatment.By the end of the study,we examined the memory ability of rats according to Morris test and cAMP-PKA-CREB expressions were detected by western blot method.SPSS 16.0 software was applied to the available data for analysis and process.Results:Compared with model group,electric acupuncture treatment could obviously increase the scores of VD rats in Morris test.The treatment could significantly increase the number of cAMP and improve the expression of PKA-CREB.Conclusion:Electric acupuncture treatment can effectively improve the memory ability of VD rats,and adjust the cAMP-PKA-CREB signal pathway in the hippocampus of VD rats.关键词
