Abstract

Objective:To explore the effects of salt stress on seed germination and seedling growth of Anemarrhena asphodeloides,and to analyze the physiological mechanism of salt stress on growth and development of Anemarrhena asphodeloides.Methods:The seeds and the seedlings ofAnemarrhena asphodeloides were treated with 0.25%,0.50%,0.75%,1.00%,1.25% and 1.50% NaCl,then the growth traits indexes and physiologic indexes in the process of seed germination and seedling growth were measured.Results:With the increasing of NaCl concentration,seed germination and the seedling growth were inhibited,the germination rate and relative germination rate were decreased significantly.Among the various physiological indexes,the content of proline,total soluble sugar and MDA showed increasing trends.The content of total soluble protein showed decreasing trend.The activities of SOD,POD and CAT all presented a rising and then decreasing tendency.Conclusion:Anemarrhena asphodeloides can tolerate moderate degree of salt stress(the concentration of NaCl is not more than 0.50%).The experimental results offer the reference for growing Anemarrhena asphodeloides at moderate saline soil.
