Abstract

Objective:To evaluate three models of cerebral infarction complicated with bacterial pneumonia in rats.Methods:The rats were subjected to cerebral ischemia by using modified Longa thread embolism method,and then were infected with Pseudomonas aeruginosa via nasal drip (group D),oral endotracheal intubation (group K) and intratracheal injection (group Q),in order to establish different models of cerebral infarction complicated with bacterial pneumonia.The area of cerebral infarction,white blood cells (WBC) counts and neutrophilic granulocyte percentage (MEUT) were compared among the three groups.Results:The WBC counts and MEUT were notably elevated at on day 3 and 7 after modeling in group D (P <0.05 or P <0.01).The WBC counts and MEUT were also increased on day 1,3 and 7 after modeling in group K and group Q (P <0.05 orP <0.01).The inflammatory changes of lung tissue were found in all groups of rats.Conclusion:The cerebral infarction complicated with bacterial pneumonia model established by the modified Longa method and intratracheal injection of bacteria was satisfactory,with the highest success rate,simple operation and good reproducibility.Thus it was suitable for the follow-up study.
