摘要

Abstract

Five kinds of commercial sintered high speed steel and carbide tools with different tool geometries were used to heavy milling 6N01-T5 aluminum thin-walled hollow structures.The infrared temperature measurement systems were used to measure the cutting temperature and the Taguchi method was used in the experiments design of cutting temperature investigation.The results showed that the cutting temperature was the highest at the area of the intersectant ribbed slab where the value of cutting temperature was 40 ~ 60℃ higher than that of cutting the single ribbed slab and the tool often presented severe adhesive wear.Among the four cutting parameters,radial depth of cut was the most significant influence factor and followed by axial depth of cut and spindle speed.The increase of spindle speed can effectively decreased the cutting temperature.The results also showed that the use of non-wave edge,smaller helix angle or less flute was benefit for cutting temperature decreasing(by 20 ~ 40℃).The tool with a flank angle of 12 degree or a rake angle of 20 degree produced the smallest value of cutting temperature.Finally,the order of the effectiveness of the cooling methods was cryogenic pneumatic mist jet impinging,oil mist,cryogenic wind and dry cutting.
