Mechanical Properties and Sound Insulation Performance of Sandwich Composites Made from MDF and Rubber Damping

Abstract
Medium density fiberboards (MDF) were laminated to a rubber damping core layer on both sides to make a sandwich composite. Testing results showed that resin consumption had a significant effect on elastic modulus (MOE), bending strength (MOR) and internal bonding strength (IB) of the composite. Hot pressing pressure and time affected MOE and MOR significantly. Sound insulation performance improved by increasing resin consumption. However, the sound insulation performance was negatively affected if the hot pressing pressure was too high, since that decreased the thickness of the rubber damping layer. Sound insulation performance of the composites made by optimized technology was better than that of MDF with the same thickness.关键词
