Manufacturing Technology of Flexible Decorative Veneers Reinforced with Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Treated by Plasma

Abstract
The authors developed film-reinforced flexible decorative veneers by using low temperature plasma to improve the interface between red oak veneers and low density polyethylene (LDPE) films and then bonded them together by hot-pressing. Hot-pressing temperature was 150℃ and decreased to 120℃ after the treatment for the veneers and LDPE films. Optimal manufacturing parameters for making the flexible decorative veneers were 0.6 MPa pressure, 150 seconds hot-pressing and 4 m/min plasma treating. The treated veneers presented better flexibility, higher peeling strength and transverse tensile strength than controls.关键词
