Coordinative Design for Supplementary Damping Controller of Doubly-fed Induction Generator and PSS of Synchronous Generator

Abstract
An optimal design strategy for supplementary damping controllers of doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) and power system stabilizer (PSS) is proposed to suppress inter-area oscillation modes with large-scale DFIG-based wind farms integrated into power systems.Firstly, to simulate the electromechanical dynamic responses of DFIG, the models for the mechanical part, the electrical part and the control structure of DFIG are established.Additionally, the completed structure of supplementary damping controllers of DFIG is presented.Secondly, based on the linearized model of closed-loop power system, a nonlinear optimization model is proposed to coordinately tune the parameters of supplementary damping controller and PSS using the dynamic indices.The global optimal solution can be searched by the particle swarm optimization algorithm with adaptive inertia factors.Finally, two examples of two-area power systems with DFIG-based wind farms integrated and IEEE benchmark system are simulated.Comparison with the traditional design strategy of damping controllers shows the effectiveness and practical applicability of the proposed design strategy.关键词
