An UWB Narrow-Pulse Generator Based on Dual Parallel Triodes

Abstract
The pulse generator plays a fundamental role in the Impulse Radio Ultra-wideband(IR-UWB)communication system.A narrow pulse generator with a high reliability for UWB is proposed,which is based on the avalanche effect of dual parallel triodes and the active damping of LC resonance.The first-derivative Gauss pulses are produced.The coupling of triodes leads to an acceleration on the avalanche effect and lowers the required supply voltage,while the implementation is simplified.Even one of the double triodes gets damaged,the other one is able to accomplish the pulse generation.The simulation and experimental results show that the produced pulse of this generator reaches a peak-to-peak voltage at 12.88 V and the pulse width is 1.6 ns.Finally the proposed circuit is proved to collaborate with the IR-UWB communication system.关键词
