Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of Masquelet technique in the treatment of chronic tibial osteomyelitis.Methods The 15 patients with chronic tibial osteomyelitis were treated with Masquelet technique.The surgical processes were included 2 stages.In the first stage, completely debridement was achieved and antibiotic bone cement was embedded.In this stage, 9 patients with skin defects were received flaps to cover the wounds.In the second stage, autogenously bone graft (with or without allergenic bone graft) was adopted after infection controlled.Results All the 15 patients were followed with a duration of 12~24 months.And the tibial chronic osteomyelitis was controlled in all patients, the fractures were healed, and no recurrence was detected.According to Paley evaluation of bone defect healing, the results were excellent in 12 patients and good in 3 patients.The joint function recovery was excellent in 7 cases, good in 6 cases, and fair in 2 cases.Conclusions The Masquelet technique is an effective method in the treatment of tibial chronic osteomyelitis with bone defect, as it has reliable curative effects, less complications and lower requirements for the surgical areas.关键词
