摘要

Abstract

Objective To investigate the effects and mechanisms of curcumin gavage on relieving L-arginine (L-arg)-induced decreased gastric emptying.Methods Thirty-six Kunming male mice were equally randomized to four groups as:control,curcumin (Cur),Larg,and L-arg+curcumin (combined) groups,with nine in each group.The mice in the control group were given intragastric administration of Arabia glue solution,those in the Cur group received intragastric curcumin solution (200 mg/kg),once a day for 15 d;those in the L-arg group were given intragastric Arabia glue solution,and those in the combined group were given intragastric curcumin solution (200 mg/kg),once a day for 15 d.Starting from day 11 of lavage,the mice in the L-arg and combined groups were administrated with L-arg mixed suspension (2 g/kg),respectively.Fasting for 24 h after the last medication was given.The gastric emptying rate of mice in each group was detected,and the content of NO and activity of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in gastric tissue were detected as well.Results Compared with the control group,the gastric emptying rate of mice in the L-arg group was significantly declined,and the content of NO,total nitric oxide synthase (TNOS) and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) in gastric tissue were significantly increased (F=6.84-23.92,P<0.05).Compared with the Larg group,the gastric emptying rate of mice in the combined group was significantly declined (F =5.18-18.47,P<0.05).The differences in gastric emptying rate,the content of NO and the activity of TNOS/iNOS in the Cur group were no significant versus th.e combined group (P>0.05).Conclusion Curcumin may inhibit L-arginine production by inhibition of NOS activity in gastric tissue NO and then improve gastric emptying in mice.
