摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore the origin and evolution of SREBP by phylogenetic analysis.These analysis can give useful information for its functions involving in fat metabolism related disease.Methods BLASP searches were performed to identify SREBP related proteins in public database NCBI and Ensembl.Primary structures of these proteins were analyzed by software in EXPASY and HPRD databases.MUSCLE program was used for the alignment and conservation.Phylogenetic tree was reconstructed by MEGA6.Results There were two copies of SREBP gene in vertebrates but only,one gene in invertebrates and basal metazoa.The bHLH DNA binding motif was highly conserved in all examined species.The proteolytic cleavage site S2P was only conserved in vertebrates.Conclusion The conserved function of SREBP in fat metabolism was originated from basal metazoa.The SREBP duplication event occurred before the speciation bony fish.
