Abstract

When the existing virtual synchronous generator (VSG) based on first-order link virtual inertia is connected to utility grid and controlled as PQ mode, contradictions exist between the VSG output power adjustment of steady-state and dynamic characteristics, that is, the power overshoot reduction may cause the slow power response and increased steady-state error. To solve this problem, the VSG control strategy based on lead-lag link virtual inertia was proposed, in this strategy, a lead link was added to the original first-order link to form a lead-lag link virtual inertia. By adjusting the lead link coefficient, the zero and pole position of active power close loop transfer function can be designed, thus steady-state accuracy of power control is ensured, while the response speed of VSG power is sped up, the system damping is increased, thus power impact on the energy storage unit of VSG during dynamic process is reduced. Simulation and experiments validate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy.
