Mediating Effect of Self-esteem on Relationships between Name Likability and Subject Well-being

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the mediating effect of self-esteem on relationships between name likability and subject well-being.Methods:Totally 641 students from UCAS were assessed with the Subjective Well-being Scale(including Satisfaction with Life Scale,SWLS and Positive And Negative Affect Scale,PANAS),Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale and name likability scale.Results:Name likability was positively related to life satisfaction,positive affect and self-esteem(r=0.15~0.31,Ps<0.001) and negatively related to negative affect(r=-0.12,P<0.01).Furthermore,self-esteem was positively related to life satisfaction and positive affect(r=0.39~0.47,Ps<0.001) and negatively related to negative affect(r=-0.41,P<0.001).Moreover,self-esteem partially mediated the relationship between name likability and life satisfaction and fully mediated the relationship between name likability and positive and negative affect.Conclusion:Name likability affects subjective well-being through self-esteem.关键词
