ICON评价新疆口腔医学生的正畸需要量及难度
ICON to Evaluate the Orthodontic Need and Difficulty of Stomatological Undergraduates in Xinjiang

Abstract
Objective Application of the Index of orthodontic treatment Complexity,Outcome and Need (ICON) to evaluation of xinjiang medical university orthodontic treatment need and difficulty of stomatological students, provide scientific basis for prevention and control. Methods Using cluster sampling method,a total of 619 stomatological undergraduates,265 males and 354 females; Han nationality were 376, Uyghur 202 and other ethnic minorities 41; aged from 21 to 26 years were enrolled in this study.For marking plaster model,application ICON to determine the orthodontic treatment need and difficulty. Results Male ICON scores were 23 (14.0,34.5), female scores were 21 (14.0,33.0), they were no significant differences in sexes (P>0.05). ICON scores of Han nationality were 21 (14.0,33.0), Uyghur 23 (14.0,33.0) and other ethnic minorities 26 (19.5,34.0). There was no significant difference in ICON scores among ethnic groups (P>0.05).According to ICON score, orthodontic treatment requirements: the need for orthodontic treatment of men were 34 cases (12.8%), women need to treat 29 cases (8.2%). Among the inter-ethnic groups, 42 cases (11.2%) needed orthodontic treatment, 18 cases (8.9%) were Uyghur and the other 3 cases (7.3%).Orthodontic treatment difficulty:"easy" accounted for 66.6%,"easier" accounted for 28.3%,"moderate difficulty"accounted for 3.2%, "difficult"2.4%,"very difficult"1.0%. Conclusion ①The stomatological undergraduates have less need and difficulty for orthodontic treatment in Xinjiang Medical University, the prevention and publicity of dental diseases in Xinjiang is effective.②ICON is a credible,repeatable,comprehensive malocclusal epidemiology index,which is conducive to determine the need,difficulty,the results of orthodontic improvement, and recommends the use of orthodontic.关键词
