Abstract
Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) ankylosis can cause progressive limitation of mouth opening,which may result in impaired speech,eating difficulties,facial disfigurement,compromised airways,and psychological stress.Based on available data,trauma is the major reason for the development of TMJ ankylosis.In recent years,the pathogenesis of traumatic TMJ ankylosis has been widely reported.Applying severe damage to glenoid fossa surface combined with condyle sagittal fracture and disc displacement created the repeatable TMJ bony ankylosed model.And characterized the multipotential differentiation stromal cells both in ankylosis radiolucent tissue and bone marrow.In addition,researchers disclosed the decreased osteoclastogenesis in bony ankylosed bone mass.Clinically,the treatment for TMJ ankylosis also improved greatly;"occlusal splint" was used to prevent TMJ ankylosis development and to promote condyle remodeling in children.Pre-operation computer-assisted planning and intraoperative navigation-assisted gap arthroplasty and condyle reconstruction greatly decreased the risk of operation and provided an approach to the individual precision treatment of TMJ ankylosis.关键词
