The Clinical Application Value of Cochlear Multi-planar Reconstruction of the Miniature Pig

Abstract
Objective To explore the technology and the clinical application value of the cochlear multi-planar reconstruction (MPR) technique.Methods The temporal bones of three miniature pigs with normal hearing were scanned by micro-CT.All images were input into Mimics software,thus reconstructing the 3D structure of the inner ear,obtaining the serial cross-sectional images through the "online reslice" function of the software,and measuring the detailed dimensions of the vestibular and tympanic scalae.Results The reslicing images displayed the fine structures within the cochlea clearly;meanwhile,we gained the detailed dimensions(area,width and height) of the vestibular and tympanic scalae along the cochlear length of the miniature pig.Conclusion The application of MPR technique may be a new approach to providing more detailed information of the patients to guide the surgeries choosing the more suitable implanted electrodes for reducing the implantation injury.关键词
