Abstract

Objective To evaluate the expression of LUNX and VEGFA gene in lymph nodes of patients with stage Ⅰ non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its clinical significance.Methods The expression of LUNX gene and VEGFA gene in tumor tissue and lymph nodes was detected by RT-PCR in 39 stage Ⅰ NSCLC patients (cancer group) and 10 lung benign tumor patients (benign group).The association of LUNX and VEGFA expression with age,sex,smoking history and clinicopathological features of NSCLC patients was analyzed.Results The positive expression rates of LUNX mRNA and VEGFA mRNA in cancer group were 23.08% and 19.23%,which were significantly higher than those of benign group (5.26% and 0.00%,P<0.05).The expression rates of LUNX mRNA and VEGFA mRNA in lymph nodes were significantly higher than metastasis rate detected by routine pathological examination (both P<0.05).The expression of LUNX mRNA and VEGFA mRNA in lymph nodes was closely correlated with pathological type,cancer cell differentiation and clinic stage (r=0.661,0.552,0.527,all P<0.05),while not correlated with age,sex and smoking history (r=0.212,0.236,0.183,all P >0.05).Conclusion The expression of LUNX mRNA and VEGFA mRNA in the lymph nodes may be an indicator of micrometastases in patients with stage Ⅰ NSCLC.
