Knowledge and Attitudes Regarding Pain Management of Geriatric Nurses

Abstract
Objective To understand the status quo of nurses ' cognition and attitudes regarding pain in geriatric ward. Methods With a self-designed general information questionnaire and Knowledge and Attitudes Survey Regarding Pain (KASRP) questionnaire, 204 female geriatric nurses were investigated and then countermeasures were taken to improve geriatric nurses ' pain management ability. Results The average score of KASRP questionnaire was 17.5 ±0.2 with the highest score of 25 points and the lowest of 9. The highest correct rate was 62.5%and the average correct ratio (42.5±0.5)%. Conclusion The scores of cognition and attitude of geriatric nurses are low and nurses' pain knowledge needs to be improved. More training related to pain management should be offered to improve the quality of nursing service and the quality of life of the elderly.关键词
