New Techniques for Calculation of Critical Productivity in Horizontal Wells for Development of Gas-cap Reservoirs through Waterflooding

Abstract
Critical productivity can be seen as a key index for proper development of gas-cap reservoirs.But existing techniques for calculation of critical productivity are available to gas-cap reservoirs with depletion development only.In other words, there is no calculation technique available to determine critical productivity of horizontal wells used for development ofgas-cap reservoirs through waterflooding.Under such circumstances, the horizontal well 3D flow field decomposition theory, the 3D flow field of horizontal well can be divided into two horizontal flow fields: internal and external.In each horizontal flow field, critical productivity can be determined in accordance with radial flow theory and static balance of fluids.Eventually, new techniques for calculation of critical productivity in stages with different water contents in horizontal wells for development of gas-cap reservoir through waterflooding can be established in accordance with equivalent seepage resistance theory and oil/water seepage curves.These new techniques have been deployed for adjustment of different operation systems in producers at stages with different water contents for production of crude oil with different viscosity during development of gas-cap reservoirs in the BZ Oilfield.Field application performances show the gas-cap reservoir in the BZ Oilfield displayed outstand performances in control over gas production and in stabilization of oil production.With gas/oil ratios reduced from 150 m3/m3 to 100 m3/m3, oil productivity remain unchanged.Simple and practical, the new techniques can be promoted in other fields.关键词
