摘要

Abstract

Auditory evoked potentials (AEP) are a physiological method used to evaluate human auditory func-tion by recording the nervous reaction activities along the auditory pathway. In order to provide a window for audiology practitioners to understand AEP applications, this article reviews the history of progress in this field, both in China and internationally, since the last century. Present status of AEP applications is summarized in objective hearing evaluation, intraoperative monitoring, central hearing auditory function evaluation, and diagnosis of specific diseases such as audito-ry neuropathy. Current issues in test standardization are also discussed.
