Abstract

The insulation of high voltage cable will suffer from long-term operation ageing,and the internal space charge behaviour under an applied electric field will change dramatically.In order to study the law of this change,the distribution of space charge in insulation layer of different cables for different operation years were tested by the pulse electro acoustic (PEA) method,and the change of space charge characteristics of the cables after long-time operation was investigated.The results show that,in the phase of polarization,the more seriously the cable ages,the longer the time of charge injection saturation will be,and negative charge will be accumulated in the anode side and sample interior;the charge accumulation curve of different specimen is hardly different,and there is no difference after the charge injection saturation.In the depolarization,positive charge decay will slow down and negative charge will decay faster for the aged cable;the more seriously the cable ages,the greater different the initial charge and ratio to the terminal time of polarization phase will be.The trap energy level reflected by the charge dissipation curve is also deepened.Analysis shows that the difference of space charge of cable insulation for different operation years is illustrated by hetero-charge accumulation,charge jump in the initial phase of depolarization phase,and energy level of traps.
