Abstract

To explore the applicability of compaction in coal stockpile,the two-dimension simulation model has been established based on COMSOLMultiphysics5.0.The maximum temperature of coal stockpile were studied under the conditions of different porosity(0.2-0.6) and different wind-velocity(0.1-11.5 m/s).Wind-velocity ranges of spontaneous combustion in different porosity stockpiles were identified.Compared the changes of maximum temperature and spontaneous combustion time before and after employed of compacting was compared,and the applicability of compaction in coal stockpile was analyzed.The results show that variation of the maximum temperature with wind-velocity is a double-exponential function.The smaller the porosity the wider the wind-velocity range.Variation of the smallest,the easiest and the largest wind-velocity of spontaneous combustion with porosity is a negative exponential function.Compaction providing the stockpile which original porosity is 0.6 with an effective protection,the maximum temperature of coal stockpile is rising and the spontaneous combustion time is shorten after the compaction is applied to the stockpile,which original porosity is 0.5,0.4 and 0.3 under the conditions of the wind-velocity is higher than 0.9 m/s,1 m/s,and 1.4 m/s,respectively.The results prove that coal stockpile compaction is not always a good solution for the prevention of coal spontaneous combustion,because the porosity of coal stockpile and surrounding wind-velocity is different.
