Effect of Dietary Iron Level on Manganese Absorption and Deposition of Broilers

Abstract
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of dietary iron (Fe) level on manganese (Mn) absorption and deposition in broilers.A total of 336 1-day-old Rose-308 male chicks were divided into 4 groups with 6 replicates and 14 chicks each replicate cage,and fed the basal diet (control,containing Fe 77.7 mg/kg) or basal diet supplemented with 100,250,or 500 mg Fe/kg for 28 days.Ligated duodenal loops were perfused with 8.74 mmol/L of Mn to determine the Mn absorption.The results showed that plasma Fe content and transferrin saturation increased (P<0.10) as dietary Fe level increased.The Fe contents in pancreas,duodenal mucosa,and tibia ash increased (P<0.10) and the Mn contents in above mentioned tissues decreased (P<0.10) as dietary Fe level increased.The DMT 1 mRNA levels of Fe-supplemented groups were lower (P<0.10) than that of the control,and the FPN1 mRNA level of Fe-supplemented 500 mg/kg group was lower (P<0.10) than those of the control and the other two Fe-supplemented groups.The Mn absorption rates of Fe-supplemented groups were lower (P<0.10) than that of the control.These results suggested that dietary Fe might decrease the absorption and deposition of Mn through the down-regulations of DMT1 and FPN1 gene expression in duodenal mucosa of broilers.关键词
