Abstract
Objective To evaluate the external jugular vein puncture method in critically ill children and related nursing measures.Methods A total of 126 critically ill children were assigned to the observation group and the control group, with 63 cases in each group.The peripherally superficial vein puncture method was used in the control group, and the external jugular vein puncture method was applied in the observation group.The one-time success rate of puncture, operation time of puncture, indwelling time and incidence of complications were recorded and compared between two groups.Results The one-time success rate of puncture was higher in the observation group than that of controls (P<0.01).The incidence of leakage, phlebitis or catheter blockage was lower in the observation group than that in the controls (P<0.01).The proportion of children with operation time of puncture less than 2 minutes and indwelling time longer than 5 days were higher in the observation group than that of controls (P<0.01).Conclusion External jugular vein puncture method is a safe and effective catheterization method in critically ill children and related nursing measures关键词
