Expression and significance of EGFR and Ki-67 proteins in carcinoma of colon and rectum

Abstract
Objective:To investigate the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and Ki-67 proteins in colorectal cancer (CRC) and their clinical significance.Methods:The expression of EGFR and Ki-67 proteins was detected by immunohistochemical staining in 100 cases of CRC.Results:The positive rates of EGFR and Ki-67 proteins' expression were 70.0％ and 85％ in CRC.In CRC,EGFR expression level was associated with differentiation,TNM stage and lymph node metastasis (P＜0.05).The expression of Ki-67 protein was related to differentiation,lymph node metastasis and primary tumor site (P＜0.05).In addition,there was a significantly positive correlation between the expression of Ki-67 and EGFR in CRC (r=0.581,P＜0.001).Conclusion:The expression of EGFR and Ki-67 protein are reversely related to differentiation and lymph node metastasis.Thus,a combined detection of both EGFR and Ki-67 protein might be valuable in evaluating the degree of malignant and estimating prognostic in CRC.关键词
