Abstract
Objective: Fractures and fixation of the jaws is a common procedure in oral and maxillofacial surgery. This paper aimed to evaluate the clinical application of one miniplate fixation on tension band supplementary with intermaxil-lary elastic traction by anchor for the management of fractures in the angle of the mamdible . Methods: 12 cases were ret-rospectively reviewed. One miniplate was placed along tension band to gain rigid fixation; meanwhile anchor was used for intermaxillary elastic traction after surgery. Postoperative infection ,occlusion rehabilitation, and recovery of width of mouth opening were analyzed. Results: Occlusion and mouth opening recovered well during follow-up. Wound dehiscence was observed in a diabetic patient. Conclusion: Application of rigid fixation by one miniplate on tension band supplementary with intermaxillary elastic traction by anchor is a reliable and safe procedure in treating mandibular angle fractures.关键词
