摘要

Abstract

Slurry pumps are the key component of a dredger. The performance of a slurry pump is closely related to the movement of the particles in its impeller. The relative velocities of medium sends (with particle diameter of 0.2~0.4mm) and coarse sands (with particle diameter of 0.8~1mm) in an impeller are severally measured using the measurement of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The results show that,the variation of the relative velocity of medium sands is similar to that of the liquid phase in the flow channel, wherea high-speed region appears in the first half with a low-speed region in the second half. Themedium sands are faster than the liquid phase in the whole flow channels. In contrast,the variation of the relative velocities of coarse sands along the flow channel is smaller. The movement of the coarse sands are slower than the liquid phase in the first half of the flow channel, but little different from the liquid phase in the second half.
