Research on the issues of healthy agriculture development in the superior regions of Hubei Province

Abstract
With the increased interest in the pursuit of environmental quality and food safety, healthy agriculture becomes a new trend during China's agricultural development process. Healthy agriculture is associated with the rise and the development of ecological agriculture: satisfying consumer's demand for safe and nutritional agricultural products. In practice, healthy agriculture focuses on the integrated circular agricultural development of crop production and livestock production. The nationally famous "land of fish and rice", Hubei Province, has the endowed natural and social resource advantages over other provinces to develop healthy agriculture. Based on the laws of the development of modern agriculture, agricultural resource endowment conditions, and the development levels of rural economy and rural society, Hubei Province is divided into three superior regions for the development of healthy agriculture, including Jianghan Plain region, downland region of Northern Hubei, and Dabie Mountain region of Eastern Hubei. This paper suggests that each of the above three regions should adopt a unique development mode of healthy agriculture: 1) Jianghan Plain can develop the symbiotic mode of rice and fish; 2) Downland region of Northern Hubei can develop the integrated mode of food and livestock or poultry productions; and 3) Dabie Mountain region of Eastern Hubei can develop the integrated mode of cash crops and livestock or poultry productions. Finally, this paper also provides some policy suggestions to the sustainable development of healthy agriculture in Hubei Province, including defining the basic contents of healthy agriculture, building facilitating organizations for the development of healthy agriculture, establishing proper management regulations for the development of healthy agriculture, and creating precautions to reduce the potential negative impacts from the development of healthy agriculture.关键词
