Geological Characteristics and Prospecting Signs of Copper Deposit in Roman Tam County of Preah Vihear Province in Cambodia

Abstract
Through analyzing and discussing regional metallogenic geological conditions, geological characteristics, orebody characteristics, and ore characteristics of the copper ore body in mining area which has been found in Roman Tam County, Preah Vihear Province of Cambodia, it is regarded that the ore bearing rock is diorite-porphyrite class.Both ore bearing rocks and its surrounding rocks are Permian volcanic rocks--subvolcanic rocks.The ore bearing rock is controlled by the structures with the trend of NWW.Because of magma intrusion and ore bearing hydrothermal, the surrounding rocks have experienced metasomatic alteration widely.In the alteration process, chalcopyrite and pyrite in the magma began to crystallize and liquate.Magma rose up to the ore occurrence space and caused sericitolite mineralization.Meanwhile, the beneficial elements of chalcopyrite and pyrite formed local industrial ore bodies.In partial areas, magma filled rocks along microfractures to form ore bearing quartz veins and veinlets chalcopyrite.This deposit belongs to hydrothermal metasomatic-filling type.Magnetite mineralization, pyritization, potash feldspathization, alteration and other signs are main prospecting signs of the area.According to copper deposit characteristics in Roman Tam County of Preah Vihear Province and comprehensive analysis of ore occurrence which has been discovered, it is regarded that there is a good prospecting potential in this area.关键词
