Damage Mechanism of Calcium Sulphoaluminate Cement Paste Partially Exposed to Sodium Carbonate Solution

Abstract
Calcium sulphoaluminate (CSA) cement paste specimens were partially immersed in 10% Na2CO3 solution,under a constant condition (i.e.,at 20 C and 60 % RH) and a sharply fluctuating environment (i.e.,firstly at 30 C and 80% RH for 24 h,and then at 20 ℃ and 60% RH for 24 h),respectively.The results show that the specimens have little change in evaporation zone after 72 d exposure under the constant condition,but the specimens are severely damaged only after 4-cycle under fluctuated condition.The crystallization of Na2SO4 without Na2CO3 occurs,and Na2SO4 is a product of chemical reaction between Na2CO3 and CSA paste.The crystallization distress by the chemical attack product is due to the damage of evaporation zone of paste or concrete if there exists chemical reaction between the cementitious materials and salt solution.关键词
