The Effect of Alcoholysis Degree on Formation Process and Properties of PVA Hydrogels

Abstract
PVA with the same degree of polymerization and different alcoholysis degree was dissolved in water to obtain a solution.The relationship between viscosity and standing time of PVA solution was investigated by a rotational rheometer in order to research the form hydrogel process from aqueous PVA solution.Temperature sensibility of hydrogel and dynamic rheological properties also were studied.The results showed that the viscosity of the PVA1788 aqueous solution was not dependent upon standing time, indicating there was no gel formed.The viscosity of PVA1795 and PVA1799 aqueous as non-Newtonian fluids increased with standing time increase gradually, indicating the aqueous form hydrogel, which means the solution is of time-dependence.PVA1795 and PVA1799 hydrogels were of a temperature sensibility and gel structural damaged at about 30℃.PVA1795 hydrogel presented mainly solid elastic characteristics in the low frequency region, and viscous liquid-based features in the high frequency region.Solid-state properties of PVA1799 hydrogel changed into gel-state at the range of 0.01-100rad·s-1.关键词
