Propylene Carbonate from the Cycloaddition of CO2 Catalyzed by Mesoporous Graphitic Carbon Nitride

Abstract
A series of mesoporous g-C3N4 materials (mp-C3N4) with tunable surface areas (146-194m2·g-1) and pore volumes (0.57-0.75cm3·g-1) have been synthesized using guanidinium chloride as a precursor, and colloid silica nanoparticles as hard templates through a nanocasting method.The physicochemical properties of mp-C3N4 materials (including porosity, micrograph, and chemical compositions) were characterized by N2 adsorption-desorption, XRD, TEM, FT-IR, and XPS spectroscopy.In the cycloaddition reactions of CO2 with propylene oxide to propylene carbonate (PC), the mp-C3N4 materials showed high catalytic performances.The maximum selectivity and yield of PC were up to 98% and 76%, respectively at 120℃.On the basis of the characterization results, a possible catalytic mechanism has been proposed.关键词
