Application of plasma and urine NGAL in diagnosing hypertensive renal damage

Abstract
Objective To investigate the clinical value of plasma and urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) in diagnosing hypertensive renal damage.Methods Sixty patients with hypertensive renal damage were selected as the hypertension group and divided into 2 groups according to the urinary microalbumin to creatinine ratio (ACR),normal albuminuria group (ACR<30 mg/g) and high albuminuria group (ACR ≥30 mg/g).Forty healthy individuals undergoing physical examination were chosen as the control group.The levels of plasma and urine NGAL,serum CysC and serum creatinine were detected by the automatic biochemical analyzer.Results Plasma and urine NGAL levels in the normal albuminuria group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05),no statistical difference was observed in the levels of serum CysC and creatinine between these two groups (P>0.05).Plasma and urine NGAL and serum CysC levels in the high albuminuria group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P>0.05),no statistical difference in serum creatinine was found between the high albuminuria group and control group (P>0.05).The Pearson correlation analysis indicated that plasma and urine NGAL levels were positively correlated with serum CysC (r=0.667,0.712;P<0.05).Conclusion The plasma and urine NGAL levels are significantly increased in the patients with hypertension and positively correlated with the severity of renal injury,which is a better indicator in diagnosing hypertensive renal damage.关键词
