Abstract

Co-firing characteristics of different types of coal (bitumite,lean coal,anthracite) and biomass (rice husks) blends were studied using thermogravimetric analyzer.The influence of the combustion atmosphere (O2/CO2 O2/N2),bio-blending ratio and oxygen concentration on ignition temperature,burnout temperature,comprehensive combustion characteristics and kinetic property of the blends were investigated.The results show that,the mass loss rate trend of the blends in O2/N2 atmosphere was similar to that in O2/CO2 atmosphere,but in O2/CO2 atmosphere,the weight loss rate of the blends was faster,the activation energy of the fixed carbon was higher,and the comprehensive combustion characteristic index was lower.Co-firing with biomass could improve the combustion characteristics of pure coal.Compared with burning coal only,the ignition and burnout temperature of the coalbiomass blends decreased,indicating the combustion characteristics of the coal were enhanced.With the increasing bio-blending ratio,the co-combustion performance was improved further.By increasing the oxygen concentration,the co-combustion rate speeded up,the ignition and burnout temperature declined,and the comprehensive combustion characteristics became better.However,in the fixed carbon combustion stage,the activation energy and pre-exponential factor of the combustion reaction increased.Near the temperature corresponding to the maximum buming rate of fixed carbon,the activation energy of the co-combustion was lower than that of the only-coal combustion,and with the increasing proportion ofbiomass,the activation energy of the blended fuel reduced.
