Age-Friendly City Practice of New York and Its Inspiration to Shanghai
摘要
Abstract
As the aging population continues increasing,urban environment becomes an important supporting factor for the elderly to have a better life.The purpose of age-friendly city is to reduce a variety of material and non-material barriers that the elderly may encounter in their daily lives,and to promote the physical and mental health and social participation of the elderly.The new master planning of Shanghai also sets a goal of building an age-friendly city.This paper makes an example of New York City which was the first global city to join the WHO global network of age-friendly cities.The analysis is made on the successful experiences and urban design guidelines for an age-friendly New York City.Then based on the present situation in Shanghai,some inspirations are put forward for Shanghai becoming a better age-friendly global city.关键词
