Abstract
objective The purpose of the study was to identify the hearing characteristics of infants who in turn failed the initial hearing screening or rescreening and analyze the underneath causes.Methods A retrospective review of 84 infants was made,who failed either in the initial hearing screening otoacoustic emissions (OAE) and/or automated auditory brainstem response (AABR) under the same conditions.The clinical hearing diagnosis was done and analyzed.Results Of all the 84 infants (168 ears),45 (90 ears) had normal hearing and 39 (46 ears) had hearing loss.Among the hearing-impaired children,52.17％ (24/46) had mild hearing loss,32.61％ (15/46) moderate hearing loss and 15.22％ (7/46) severe hearing loss.As to the reasons of hearing loss,65.22％ (30/46) was middle ear abnormal,30.43％ (14/46) was defined as sensorineural hearing loss and 4.35％ (2/46) had mixed problems.ConcIusions Most of the infants whose ears in turn failed the initial hearing screening or rescreening were with mild to moderate hearing loss and most of them were conductive hearing loss.关键词
